Okay styled shoots. WHAT ARE THEY?? Why do them?? How do you do them?? How’d this one go??
WHAT
Styled shoots are curated sessions where everything is picked out to your exact likings! The location, the time, the outfits, the decor, the flowers, the hair, the make up, the people. EVERYTHING!! You or a host/designer gets to put together a shoot with everything you can imagine.
WHY
I just moved to California, and am doing a little rebranding in the sense of adding beach and SoCal vibes to my portfolio! I want to attract my IDEAL clients! So I can make up an ideal client and collaborate with other professionals in the area and create such STUNNING art. Styled shoots can become so extravagant with cakes and card suites and diamonds etc. But I wanted to keep it a little more low key to be able to just have fun. My ideal brides are adventurous and authentic. SO I set up a shoot with a HMUA and florist in Souther California that I LOVE!!
HOW
You can’t get anywhere until you start asking. So if you want someone to design you a styled shoot, reach out to a facebook group and ask who’s interested! If you what to design your own, start pinning your favorite looks and figure out the vibe you are going for! I wanted a end of summer hurrah beach elopement laid back feel. So I put together a style board and started reaching out to professionals whose work I thought would fit with the vibe. You can do this two ways. You can hire professionals, or do a collaboration or trade! As a photographer I offered free images for portfolios and social media. You can offer your flowers, design expertise or modeling! Then settle on a date and location and get rolling!!
END OF SUMMER STYLED SHOOT
You guys!! I’ve never had a styled shoot go SO WELL!!! There were DEFINITELY HICUPS!!! Like last minute models dropping out and changes, wrong parking lots, and running on the beach to find the models. HA!!! BUT everything else came together PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!! The dress I ordered came and was PERFECT. And dude guess what. I bought it off amazon. We’re going real chill here. I found great models, Anne and Danny. Who were willing to work with me bc they love me (shh they’re related to me). Randall, the HMUA did amazing!!! She did her own spin on the look we came up with together for the hair, and the make up just makes all the difference. Let me tell you. JENNIFER was THE key to this whole thing. Her bouquet was just everything I could’ve dreamed of. The perfect summer to fall vibes. Modern. Unique. PERFECT.
We hit up crystal cove RIGHT before sunset (due to losing Anne and Danny..totally my fault). But it ended up being SO gorgeous! The light was so soft and pretty. Anne and Danny have been married a while, but their love totally came through as I pulled out all of my fun and adventurous poses running through the sand, and splashing in the water. It was just perfect you guys. I can’t even say enough, so you just have to look at these beauties and tell me I’m not wrong.
