How to Become a Photographer- My Story
Hey you! I’m so excited you made it! This is such a special place to me; it’s the place I get to share the most beautiful moments in the most beautiful way. It’s crazy to think that back in college, I had no idea I would be HERE, capturing true moments of love throughout engagements, weddings, and beyond.
I always enjoyed taking pictures but was never very serious about it. I studied at Brigham Young University, where I met the love of my eternity, Randy, and got my Bachelor of Science in Biological Science Education. Sound like a wedding photographer to you? Me neither. While I loved what I was learning, and especially my student teaching experiences, I was missing a deeper passion.
“I wish I could just be a wedding photographer or something…all of a sudden, I started CHASING MY DREAM!”
After feeling burnt out and saying something along the lines of I wish I could just be a wedding photographer or something, Randy said the best words I could have ever heard “Then DO it!” I kind of laughed, but all of a sudden, I started CHASING MY DREAM!
The love I had for LOVE combined with my artistic side, and the love I had for photography. My passion for LEARNING pushed me further and further, YouTube after YouTube, course after course. I got out and shot EVERYTHING. Every outing I had my camera on my hip. ALL of my friends. I made all of my girlfriends get their wedding dresses back on just so I could have some sort of portfolio.
After booking and shooting my first solo wedding, I knew that I was meant to do this. Each time I got behind the camera, I had so much fun, and I could tell that the energy I had, rubbed off on each of my clients, helping them to feel at ease, and be able to enjoy THEIR beautiful moments.
How AMAZING was it, and IS it that I get to tag along for the most beautiful and intimate journeys.
When my husband’s job took us to St Louis Missouri, I turned down teaching job offers and chose to wing it, you guys. We knew we wanted to have kids soon, and I knew I wanted something I was passionate about to do while I raised our babies.
It was an obvious choice. I put my all into this business. I put my all into serving and loving each of my clients and delivering the BEST work. And now I look back and am SO grateful I chose THIS path. The path to being a Wedding and Lifestyle photographer for the most amazing people.
I am SO grateful it has brought me to YOU and to be able to make the most special moments last a lifetime. Becoming a photographer to me, is about JUST DOING IT.
