YOU’RE ENGAGED!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow. I’m so happy for you. This is such an amazing season of your life! Yes...stressful, but it can also be so magical as you plan the wedding you’ve been dreaming of since you were a little girl! So the next thing on your LONG to do list is engagement pictures! Maybe you’ve been thinking of this for a while, or maybe you don’t have any idea of how to prepare for your engagement session! I wanted to share a few starter types that’ll help your engagement session go smoothly!

Seasons change the vibe, cozy up, or play in the sun!

Seasons CHANGE so much of how your photos come out! So choosing a season, or a timeframe for your photos can really help get the vibe you’re going for! Okay, maybe you think this doesn’t matter as much in southern California, and comparative to St. Louis, you’re right, it doesn’t!! Haha! But even in SoCal the weather will influence what you wear and where you go! So are you thinking of a sunny playful session at the beach, then summer is your season! If you want sweaters and amber trees? Hit your photographer up for her fall dates (TIP: Book your engagements as far in advance as possible because Fall is BUSY SEASON in the photography world)

Let’s go somewhere magical!

Thinking of your location can be tricky. But just remember that you can choose anywhere special to you and we’ll time it right for the best lighting and make anywhere beautiful. Of course, I’ll always gravitate towards nature. Whether it's the beach or the hilly mountains before the fog burns off, getting out into the open elements creates such a beautiful backdrop, and my type of adventurous session! Need some more ideas for southern california locations? Or my favorite St. Louis spots?? Send me an e-mail and we’ll chat!!

Pick a new outfit you LOVE and feel great it!

THIS is such a fun part of getting ready for your engagement session!! I have a whole blog post you can check out here, but I’ll give you the quick run down. BE COMFORTABLE so you can have fun!!! Choose outfits (usually you can have 2 outfits) that you’d normally wear and love! I'd try to stay away from bright and big colors, and lean towards muted tones! Print is okay, but stay away from pinstripes as they cause distortion. Use this occasion to get yourself a nice new outfit, you'll love it for years to come as you remember these special moments. I can't wait!!

I pinned all my favorites for you so you can see what I'm talking about. Head to my Pinterest board  page here for a little inspiration on what YOU can wear! I have a spring/summer, fall and winter style guide board as well as an "Engagement Photo Inspiration" Board for ideas of how it can look together with your cutie by your side!

Time to relax and enjoy being in love!

Okay poses. Mostly I just want to say don’t worry about it, because with me, we just have so much fun, and I’ve got a million little “prompts” over “poses” that’ll keep you moving and happy and laughing. That way it's SO easy to capture your love and personality. So basically to prepare for the “posing”/not really posing..you just have to be in LOVE! You got that? I got the rest ;) BUT if you are searching Pinterest and loving a few shots that you want of your own, just shoot me or your photographer the pin and we’ll totally make it happen for you!

The session will go great!

You can bring extra lipgloss and a hair brush to be super prepared. I’d get to the location 15 min early just incase of traffic or a worldwide pandemic or something ;)  hah but really all you need to do day of is JUST HAVE FUN!!!!! I LOVE engagement sessions. After yours you’ll see why. They are so much fun, and an easy time to feel so much love for eachother while your photographer captures the best moments.

Call me, beep me, if you want to reach me...don’t actually beep me cause idk how to get pages..lol but shoot me an e-mail and I’ll be SO happy to talk through all of this with you, and you figure out what’s going to work for you!! :D
