Our Story

The short version of how we met is via mutual friends. Continue reading for the long, in depth version.

The first time Adam saw Briana was at an engagement party for mutual friends. Adam saw Briana dancing in the middle of the living room with one other person while 15+ people just sat around watching. Being fairly new to the group Adam did not recognize either of the girls dancing and assumed they were friends from the couple growing up, not a fellow student at SIUe.

The second time Adam saw Briana was while getting a tour of campus. This time she was wearing her Chinese pants. If you haven't seen these puppies you really should, they're somethin'. After this encounter they became Facebook friends (this is important I promise).

Throughout the next few months Adam and Bri would run into each other from time to time, having seen Briana post a video of her draining a 3 on the basketball court on Facebook (see) Adam naturally started trash talking her about basketball, but they never got together to play.

Leaving a Sean McConnell concert with his younger sister Adam said when asked about Briana "Yeah, Bri seems cool and she laughs at my jokes, I think we would be good friends if we hung out more."

We finally moved forward in our friendship at the very end of the Fall semester 2017. Adam was in the gym lifting weights (in his best cutoff mind you) and suddenly got a ping from Facebook messenger (FB for the win) from Briana asking if he was around and wanted to play basketball. Adam's response, "Prepare to get embarrassed." Briana claims the message was innocent and had no intention of a romantic relationship and Adam just wanted to play basketball, but 3 hours (and 80 blocked shots) later we both felt a little something. Throughout the next week Adam and Briana spent countless hours in the gym playing basketball and badminton and getting to know each other. After a week of hanging out Adam asked Briana on a date while looking at the stars by Cougar Lake (this location comes back later)...

Adamantly Together

On our first date to the Missouri botanical gardens for garden glow, while walking through the light hedge maze Adam could not help but picture a sappy country song music video as the pretty girl led the boy around in the dark with just the small white lights glowing. He said to Briana "this is awesome" Briana quickly replies "You could say its aMAZEing". Now if you know Adam you know he likes a good pun (too much I get it) and the first thing to come out of his mouth is "Marry me". 

From nearly the very beginning Adam knew he loved Briana and knew where he wanted this to go. Within a few weeks Adam wanted to tell Briana how he felt but did not want to creep her out by moving too quickly, but eventually he could not hold it in and told her while they were laying on the floor talking at the Mosher ranch. 

Over the next year Briana and Adam continued to grow together. This section could honestly turn into a book, so we ask that you see our photos in the "Briana and Adam" section and let them do the talking for us.

Finally Britrothed

Towards the end of our year of dating the topic of marriage had begun to come up. Specifically the topic of what season of the year. Adam confidently said November 2019 and Briana humored him and agreed thinking that November was getting closer and there was no talk of engagements. Adam's plan was already in motion however. Claiming he would save for a car and then for her ring, he actually saved for both and bought the ring first. Briana waiting patiently for Adam to buy his car and supporting his decisions was not aware that he had the ring for a month before she finally got it. 

Twice she was within eyesight of it without knowing and twice she did not see it so the plan was still a go. 

Briana had been wanting to do another photo shoot of the two of us since we had done one earlier in the Spring. Adam used this as a smooth segue for the engagement. On our one year anniversary Adam suggested we take anniversary photos down by Cougar lake at the spot he asked Briana out and where they had spent countless nights together looking at the stars. Being that December 15th was after break started for SIUe, recruiting a friend as a photographer was a bit challenging, but eventually Briana's roommate Yao Yao said she could help. Adam did not have time to get her in on the plan so he prayed she would know what to do when the time came.

While walking down to their spot, Briana's shoe came untied. Seeing that her hands were full, Adam bent down to tie it for her. Briana said jokingly, "it looked like he was proposing!" *Nervous Laugh*.

When we finally get to our spot we take one quick photo standing together. Briana's head was on Adam's chest and she could hear his heart pounding as if he had just finished running a half mile (you read that right). Little did she know that the ring box was in Adam's pocket literally pressed against her hip. Turning to her Adam started talking about asking her out at this spot a year ago and their first date where he jokingly asked her to marry him and then got down on one knee...

THAT's where she ended the story!!!! AHHH!! I like to imagine all of the laughing and crying and kissing and hugging that happened in this moment. These two amazing people are getting married!! (okay they're totally already married, but I'm just getting around to sharing their story now...so go with it!! LOVE YOU BRI AND ADAM!!!!💓💓
