Adam and Brianna Say “I Do”
Adam and Briana are some of the most amazing people I know. I felt so honored to be a part of their special day. There was SO much feeling behind each moment. There was kindness overflowing from everyone you talked to. Their wedding was a testament that good people attract good people. There was joy, and tears, and laughter. It boiled down to love. Love for each other, their family, their friends, and Jesus. I just can’t say enough good about them. I’ll love them and these moments we captured forever.
Their Story, Their Words
The Day is FINALLY HERE!!!
I remember waking up early that morning and feeling so grateful and calm. There were many thoughts of thanksgiving running through my head for the family and friends that helped get us to this day, and I spent some of the morning praying praises to God and sending text messages to those important people in our life. The peace I felt definitely came from God and I was just so ready to marry Adam! I got to work on my hair and then my maid of honor Meighan came in to do my makeup. Then I met up with my girls for lunch and off we went to the venue. There was a parade we hadn’t known about that day blocking off some of the streets near the venue and I remember Adam called calmly to let us know so we could get there sooner rather than later. Getting dressed with the gown I was so excited for Adam to see, with my mom and Meighan helping, was really sweet. And then stepping out to see my girls, all hyping me up and cheering me on in my gown was really fun too. A special moment was when they prayed over me in the moments leading up to the ceremony. It just felt right, and hearing them pray for our day and all the days after was really beautiful and special to me. Then it was go time!
Saying “I Do”
We just couldn’t stop smiling at each other. Adam was stepping side to side at the front of the room and I only had eyes for him as my dad walked me up. We were both giddy and just so ready to start our lives as husband and wife. The way Adam was looking at me, it made me feel enchanting and so beautiful. I love seeing our reactions captured in our wedding photos!
Our pastor friend Nick officiated the ceremony and we were so grateful that he would be sharing the gospel with our friends, family and the staff at Schlafly that day. His words made us fix our eyes on Jesus and we had communion time together with bread that my mom made (a traditional Lebanese bread to commemorate my grandmother). Praying together and sharing the moment of communion was special and brought tears to our eyes in thankfulness for Jesus and the abundance God was giving us in this relationship. We had a giggle moment when we were still chewing the bread from communion as we were supposed to be staying the vows. Let’s just say we needed a minute. :) Our vows were traditional and fit us as a couple. Then my ring almost didn’t fit, and at the end of the prayer, it popped over my knuckle just in the nick of time! Another special moment during the ceremony was during a prayer, where we put our foreheads together - it’s something that’s calming to us and made us feel centered and together for the ceremony. After we shared our first kiss, we raised our hands and walked out to cheers and the song “Ring the Bells” by Johnnyswim.
Picture Time
Photos were so fun! We enjoyed getting to add some specific shots in that were special to us, like including significant others of our wedding party and doing some photos combining our families. The energy was there and Laurel kept us on a great track to enjoy the time but also power through all the shots. Getting photos of just us after all the group shots was especially fun. Cars would honk and Laurel would cheer us on as we took glam shots and got to keep kissing and smiling. We were the MVPs and felt like it! Some little kids looked at us like we were royalty, making us giggle. Our day was so easy and it fit us with every detail. We’re really thankful for everyone that made that happen, and to Laurel for capturing these moments for us to look back on and remember fondly forever! I can’t wait to fill our future homes with these pictures that will tell our wedding day story.
It’s Party Time
We were SO ready to boogie. Adam and I both come alive on the dance floor together and we couldn’t wait for the night to get started. The meatloaf dinner was AMAZING and we still talk about it to this day, wishing we had time for seconds! Our friends speeches and my dad’s speech carry such fond and funny memories, and it’s great when the people that know you so well know what to say to make you smile and love each other more. Adam hand picked and ordered the song list and there wasn’t a dull moment on the dance floor. It’s what we wanted and we loved dancing the night away, starting off with a traditional Lebanese group dance that made my family get hyped. It was so cute to see our friends join in and learn as they went. The best party I’ve ever been a part of, and with my husband! Happiest girl in the world. :)
And now…
Being married to Adam is the best. He loves me so well, and in this quarantine, we’ve gotten to spend so much time together and build rhythms for our relationship and family. Our love grows everyday and I’m so thankful that God brought us together - Adam is the greatest display of God’s love for me that I’ve experienced in my life. Here’s to a lifetime of being Mrs. DeRousse!
